Ancient Philosophy Research in Yorkshire

Welcome to the website of the Yorkshire Ancient Philosophy Network (CHiPhi), one of the largest clusters of Ancient Philosophy specialists in the UK. We exist to provide active and regular collaboration in support of research at postgraduate and faculty level.

This website offers information about academic staff, research postgraduates, and funding opportunities, as well as up-to-date information about meetings and events. If you would like to be added to our email list, please contact one of the organisers.

The annual meeting of the Northern Association for Ancient Philosophy, 2020, will take place at the University of Leeds, 6-7th April, 2020.

YAPN (CHiPhi) Meeting Dates 2016-17

The YAPN (CHiPHi) Meeting Dates and Venues for 2016-17 are as follows:

  • 9th June, 2017. Sheffield. (contact: Steve Makin)

Further details about each of these will be available on the website, via our email distribution list (contact Jamie Dow if you wish to be added), and usually on Philos-L and Classicists lists.

They will follow our usual format of a morning reading group (~9.30/10am-12.30pm), followed by an afternoon set of 2 or 3 papers, usually pre-read (~1.30-4.30/5pm). We usually go out for a drink and/or dinner afterwards, for those able to stay.
